Supporting Practice Needs
The practice of generous giving has sustained Buddhist teachers and the Buddhist tradition for over 2500 years. This practice is called Dana (pronounced “dah-na”), which is a Pali word meaning generosity.
Dating back to the time of the Buddha, there has existed an interdependence between those who offer the teachings and those who receive them. The teachings are given on a donation basis, since they are considered priceless. In this same tradition, Insight San Diego (ISD) Scholarship Funds assist those who might otherwise be unable to attend an activity such as a retreat or event. Scholarship awards offset registration fees.
We offer thanks to our member's generous donations that make Scholarship Funds possible!
It is our wish to support the practice needs of any individuals who wish to attend an activity. Because Insight San Diego highly values diversity, we particularly encourage those who require financial assistance that are in the following groups to apply: people of color, young adults (18-26), elders (65+), and those with life-threatening illnesses. Scholarship funds are limited, so apply early to improve your chances of receiving a scholarship. Choose the activity you are interested in first and then complete the application form below.
ISD does not discriminate because of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law. ISD prohibits such discrimination. Members of the ISD Board of Directors and scholarship committee, and their immediate family members, are not eligible for receiving financial aid during their tenure.
Each scholarship request is assessed in terms of funds availability.
