Insight San Diego Welcomes
Carrie Tamburo, Ph.D.
Introduction to insight Meditation Class
Wednesdays, January 8 - February 5, 2025
Buddhist Insight Meditation (also known as Vipassana, or “clear seeing”) is a comprehensive approach to awakening the heart and mind. Using the tool of stable, clear and kind attention, we learn to see things minus the projections and interpretations that can cause us suffering and stress. This practice gives us the opportunity to step out of the way we ordinarily view and relate to life, and the opportunity to see into its deeper textures, textures that we may not even be able to imagine right now. In viewing and relating to life differently, there is the possibility to live more freely, peacefully and happily. This practice, when taken to its maximum expression, will allow everything we think , say and do, to be a cause for peace and happiness rather than suffering in the world – both for ourselves and for others.
The course is suitable for beginners as well as for those with more experience who wish to refresh their practice.
Carrie Tamburo, Ph.D., has practiced meditation in the Insight and other Buddhist traditions for over 35 years. She translates Buddhist teachings into Spanish and teaches meditation in both Spanish and English in California and Latin America. Carrie is a graduate of the Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leaders Program, as well as a former Spanish professor and Latin Dance instructor.
