Week 10: Clear Knowing and Mindfulness on Parts of the Body

How can we know whether our actions are motivated by a true understanding of the way things are? How do we know if our judgments or our expectations of what we "deserve" really correspond to the nature of reality? Joseph Goldstein introduces the concept of "clear knowing" or "clear comprehension," which rests on our fundamental understanding of the impermanence of all things and our delusional belief in the notion of a stable "self."  Without these concepts to ground our behaviors and attitudes, we cannot hope to be happy.  Please join the discussion by clicking on the "Read More" link below."

Week 9: Mindfulness of Postures

This week we continue practicing mindfulness with Joseph Goldstein's help. He urges us to follow the Buddhas instructions regarding posture—“when walking, one knows I am walking,’”—and to apply this approach to all body positions.  This practice will strengthen continuity of awareness and reveal our state of mind.  Click on "Read More" below to follow - and join in - our conversation
